20th Annual SBA Awards confer Small Business Journalist accolade to Greater Good founders
The Small Business Administration presented Evan and Kari Leong the Small Business Journalist of the Year award in its 20th annual SBA Awards held at the Hyatt Regency in Waikiki, April 27. The prestigious Small Business Awards honor outstanding small business owners and advocates who demonstrate excellence and achievement in the business community.
Through Greater Good Radio, Greater Good TV and other media outlets, the husband-and-wife tandem has been able to reach a global audience to promote the basic tenet of business prosperity through community involvement.
According to assistant vice president of Central Pacific Bank, Robin Kaneshiro, the Leongs have been helping businesses reach financial and community goals with a new paradigm of business success. Kaneshiro nominated the couple for this award.
"Greater Good Radio has spread the powerful message of social entrepreneurship - that businesses will find most prosperity when considering and prioritizing the needs of the community in making business decisions, and not just their financial bottom line," Kanishero, CPB's senior business banking officer, wrote.
"In producing the highly innovative Greater Good Radio programs, Evan and Kari have been able to encourage a new community-giving-driven business ethic for the next generation of worldwide leaders," he added.
The Leongs' straightforward double bottom line formula has established the groundwork for future success of other entrepreneurs and small businesses.
